About the Fabric

Thoughtfully Chosen. Gently Made.

At BEM Melo, fabric comes first.

Our pieces are crafted from bamboo-derived and cotton blend fabrics chosen for their softness, breathability, and comfortable feel against the skin. Because clothing rests on your body all day, we believe what touches your skin should feel as good as it looks.

Closed-Loop Bamboo-Derived Fibers

Bamboo is a fast-growing, renewable resource that typically requires relatively few inputs to grow and is commonly cultivated without the need for pesticides.

Our bamboo-derived fibers are produced using a closed-loop manufacturing process, where much of the water and solvents are recovered and reused throughout production. This helps reduce waste and environmental impact while creating an exceptionally soft, breathable fabric.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Certified Fabric

(Class I – Baby Articles)

Our fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, Class I, the most stringent product class within the Standard 100 certification system.

Every component of the fabric—from the fibers to the dyes and finishes—has been tested under strict OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 criteria for a wide range of harmful substances, including prohibited and restricted azo dyes, PFAS, formaldehyde, heavy metals, pesticide residues, and plasticizers.

Class I certification is suitable for baby products and textiles intended for direct skin contact.

This certification applies to the fabric itself rather than the finished BEM Melo garment. As a small brand, we prioritize investing in certified fabrics and thoughtful product development, allowing us to offer high-quality materials without the additional cost of finished-garment certification.

We believe transparency matters. That's why we provide a redacted copy of our fabric supplier's OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certificate below.
