Our Story

BEM Melo stands for Body · Earth · Mind · Melo — a reminder that what we wear should feel good on our bodies, be mindful of the planet we live on, and support our well-being.

BEM Melo began with a personal search for something I couldn't find. As a yoga instructor and someone who practices hot yoga and pilates almost every day, I spent a lot of time sweating in synthetic activewear. I wanted something softer and made with more plant-based fibers, but many of the options I found felt out of reach or didn't fit what I was looking for.

So I decided to create my own.

Founded from a home studio in San Jose, California, BEM Melo was created with a simple goal: to make plant-based clothing more accessible and create essentials that are soft, comfortable, and thoughtfully made.

We choose bamboo-derived and cotton-based fabrics for their softness, breathability, and everyday comfort. Our fabrics are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified (Class I – Baby Articles), meaning they have been tested for a wide range of harmful substances and are designed for prolonged skin contact.

From slow mornings and lounging to work, yoga, pilates, and everyday life, our pieces are designed to move with you.

We believe mindful clothing should be accessible. By keeping our designs simple and producing in small batches, we focus on quality, comfort, and thoughtful choices at a fair price.

We believe in loving your clothes, wearing them well, and when they've reached the end of their journey, letting them return to the earth.
